About these terms
These terms apply when you place an order through this website. Please read them before ordering. By placing an order you agree to them. We may update them from time to time; the terms that apply to your order are the ones published when you placed it.
Placing an order
Adding items to your basket and completing checkout is an offer to buy. Your order is accepted when we confirm it by email. If we cannot fulfil something, because a cut is unavailable or we cannot deliver to your address, we will contact you and refund anything already paid for that item.
Everything is cut fresh to order, so weights are approximate. Where an item is sold by weight we will cut as close to the weight you ordered as we can, and you pay the price shown for that item.
Prices and payment
Prices are in pounds sterling and include VAT where it applies. Goods sold by weight also show a price per kilogram. Payment is taken at checkout by Shopify on our behalf. We never see or store your full card details.
We take care to price everything correctly. If we spot an obvious pricing error before your order is prepared, we will contact you and you can confirm the corrected price or cancel for a full refund.
Collection and delivery
You can collect from the shop, which is free and has no minimum order, or take local delivery on a Thursday or Friday afternoon. Delivery costs £5, and is free on orders of £40 or more. The charge is shown in your basket before you pay. Because everything is cut when your order comes in, we ask for three days' notice on deliveries, and the slots offered at checkout allow for that. Our Shipping policy has the delivery area and the full detail.
Please make sure someone is available to receive a delivery. We cannot leave fresh meat unattended.
Your right to cancel
Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 you would normally have 14 days from delivery to change your mind about something bought online.
That right does not apply to goods which are liable to deteriorate or expire rapidly. That covers the fresh meat, poultry, chilled and other perishable products which are most of what we sell. Once we have cut and prepared your order we cannot take it back.
It does apply to the sealed store cupboard items we sell, such as dry seasoning and stuffing mixes and jarred sauces, as long as they are unopened. To use that right, tell us within 14 days of receiving them. You can ring, email, write, or fill in the form at the end of these terms. You do not have to use the form. Return the goods to us within 14 days of telling us, and we will refund what you paid for them, including the basic delivery cost if the whole order goes back, within 14 days of getting them back. You pay the cost of returning them.
None of this affects your legal rights if something we supply is faulty, not as described, or not of satisfactory quality. If there is a problem with your order, tell us as soon as you can and we will work it out with you. See our Returns policy.
Before we start preparing an order you are welcome to change or cancel it. Ring the shop and we will sort it out.
Allergens and food safety
If you have a food allergy or intolerance, please ring the shop on 01202 605172 before you order, and tell us again when you order, so we can check the item for you. Where we hold allergen information for a product it is shown on that product's page.
Our shop handles a wide range of meat and non-meat products, including cereals containing gluten, milk, eggs, mustard, celery, sulphites and nuts, in the same preparation areas. Except where a product is specifically labelled otherwise, we cannot guarantee any item is free from cross contamination.
Fresh products should be refrigerated as soon as they reach you and eaten by the date given. Storage and cooking guidance is on the packaging or available at the counter.
Our shop is rated 5, Very Good, for food hygiene by Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council, at its inspection on 19 November 2025. You can check that rating yourself on the Food Standards Agency's website.
Complaints
If something has gone wrong, ring the shop on 01202 605172 or email sean.griffsbutchers@outlook.com. We will acknowledge a complaint within two working days and do our best to give you an answer within fourteen days. If we need longer, because we are tracing something back to a supplier for example, we will tell you and keep you posted.
If we cannot settle it between us, alternative dispute resolution is a way of having an independent third party look at a complaint without going to court. We are not a member of an alternative dispute resolution scheme and we are not obliged to use one. If we reach the point where we cannot agree, we will tell you so in writing, and we will tell you at that point whether we are willing to take part in alternative dispute resolution with a certified provider such as Retail ADR (retailadr.org.uk). You are free to approach a certified provider whatever we decide, and you keep the right to take the matter to court.
Our liability
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else which cannot legally be limited. Otherwise, our liability for any order is limited to the amount you paid for it.
